Joan Maclennan, Executive Director

Joan Maclennan, R.N., is the Executive Director of Regency Palms Assisted Living and Memory Care. Her dedication to the senior community, coupled with her professional demeanor and effective managerial skills have worked to shape our community into a better place for residents and staff alike. She is a dedicated, caring professional with many years’ experience in the nursing and administration of both Assisted Living and Memory Care communities throughout the world.

As the Memory Care Administrator for Regency Palms in 1997 (under a previous owner), Joan worked in tandem with the Alzheimer’s Association to train, educate and instill in staff and family members the understanding and compassion needed to effectively communicate and care for victims of Alzheimer’s disease. She served as a committee member of the Alzheimer’s Association for two years. Since that time Joan has successfully operated several Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities in the Las Vegas area.

Joan’s high ethical and moral standards enable her to offer residents and family members a warm, safe, compassionate environment. A native of Scotland, Joan earned her R.N. degree from The Royal Northern Infirmary Inverness in 1971. She began her career in acute care and over the years changed her focus to specialize in geriatric care, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

In her spare time, Joan likes to spend time with her granddaughter, take her dogs for long walks, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Las Vegas community.

Margaret Wells, Business Office Manager

As Business Office Manager, Margaret Wells oversees financial operations at Regency Palms and serves as the staff human resources coordinator. Margaret has a broad management background in both the financial services and healthcare industries, and prefers working with seniors. Over the years, Margaret has worked with nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, independent senior communities, and owned and operated a medical billing company for several years. An avid health and fitness enthusiast, Margaret enjoys listening to jazz, traveling and spending time with her husband.

Cristina Johnson, Director of Marketing

Cristina Johnson was born and raised in Florida where she started her Property Management career in 2002 as a Leasing Consultant for multi-family housing. After moving to Las Vegas in 2006, she applied at a property management company that told her the only leasing position they had available was at a senior community. Shortly after accepting the position, she quickly realized that helping seniors find a place to call home is her passion. Cristina found that not only does she enjoy working with seniors and their family members, but learning their life experiences can be the most rewarding and heartfelt experience. Some of Cristinas personal interests include music, traveling, working out, and spending time with her daughter.

Kyle Renzelman, Community Relations Director

Kyle was born and raised in central Illinois. He went to college for Radio/TV Communications and worked in the radio industry for 12 years, along the way he landed in Las Vegas. Kyle always felt like he should do something that helps people and eventually found his way to Regency Palms. When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his family. Kyle is a man that loves the outdoors. Some of his favorite things to do are playing with his dog, hiking, off-road driving, kayaking, and anything else that you can do outside.

Anna Arcilla Health Services Director, L.P.N.

Anna worked in a pharmacy for less than 15 years before she acquired her CNA certificate. She worked at a long term care facility & assisted living community and also worked as a private caregiver. Anna worked two jobs most of the time while going to school. She recently graduated from the LPN program May 2009 and is focused on providing professional and efficient care to everyone at Regency Palms. Anna is a chocoholic and likes to read & watch movies in her spare time.

Regina Coles- Assisted Living Resident Care Coordinator

Regina Coles joined the Regency Palms team in the summer of 2007. She has been involved in the assisted living industry for almost 10 years. Regina’s first job in an assisted living was transportation. She was then promoted to the activity director position and within a year she was promoted to resident services director. Regina learned of Regency Palms through their excellent reputation and new this was the premier assisted living and that she would like to be a part of “People who care, caring for people.” In regina’s spare time she enjoys camping, traveling, her dog Davidson and cat Kitty Katt.

Jerry “JJ” Nunnenkamp, Transportation

JJ was born and raised in Freeport, New York and moved to Nevada 11 years ago. JJ came to BPM as a maintenance director but felt he would serve our residents better as a driver for his background carries extensive medical transportation experience. When JJ is not driving our residents to Mount Charleston to play in the snow or on a scenic drive around Lake Mead, he is assisting with many other departments here at Regency Palms. He firmly believes in serving our residents with independence, dignity and identifying each resident’s individual needs. His “there are no problems, only solutions” attitude goes along way helping with our residents daily needs. JJ loves spending time with his wife of 21 years, Bonnie, and hiking with his daughter, Amy. When JJ is not behind the wheel of our bus you might catch him behind the wheel of his stockcar at a number of racetracks.

Janice Tursi, Activities Director

Janice was born in Springfield Ohio and has three brothers and one sister. After high school she graduated from cosmetology school and also attended Wright State University. In Ohio she had an interior design business for many years. Janice moved to Las Vegas in 1987. She was the manager of a women’s clothing store. In 1998, she started working as an activity director and has been one ever since. Her hobbies are collecting dolls and flower design. She has a wonderful husband who she loves to spend time with when she is not busy keeping our residents smiling.

Nick Ghatas, Food Service Director

Nick was born in Greece and raised in Boston, MA. He has been cooking since he was 12 years old at his uncle’s restaurant in Athens. When he came to the US, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York where he honed his skills to become a chef. Nick’s cooking styles can be classified as French with Greek and Mediterranean accents. He has worked at the Wynn and the MGM Grand with celebrity chefs such as Tom Colicchio from the show “Top Chef” and Chef Costa Canavous, rated one of Europe’s best chefs for 3 years in a row. Cooking incredible food is his passion and that is why he believes “you are what you cook”.

Ralph Mercandante- Maintenance Director

Originally from Long Island, NY, Ralph brings superior maintenance service to the residents at Regency Palms. With over 28 years of experience, Ralph has a wealth of knowledge including but not limited to plumbing, framing, restoration, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. Although Ralph has worked for general contractors and multi-family housing communities in the past, he has found that working for a senior community has been an enjoyable way to give back to the community. When he’s not assisting the residents, he enjoys hiking, fishing, photography, and music.
